 Beaugregory GALLERY

Stegastes leucostictus

Juveniles can easily be confused with juvenile Cocoa Damselfish. They are very similar. Just remember that the Cocoa Damselfish has a black speck of "Cocoa" on his tail base. The Beaugregory does not. There are times that the Cocoa Damselfish is without a tail spot. Then another way to tell them apart, though quite difficult from afar, is the the dorsal fin spot extends on to the back of the Cocoa Damsel and the dorsal fin spot on the Beaugregory is confined to the fin only.
