Massive Starlet Coral

Siderastrea siderea

These colonies grow to form spheres over 5 feet in diameter. Most in the shallwer water will be in the range of 1-3 feet in diameter. this is also know as Smooth "Starlet" coral (not to be confuses with Smooth Star" coral). Look for them in areas of normally clear water in protected areas. They are on uniform color, (not having darker coral polyp pits like the Lesser Starlet coral). They can be brown, yellow or gray.
