The largest of our Hamlets which are members of the Sea Bass Family. These Hamlets grow to a foot in length and are uncommon to rare here. They have red irises and their eyes are positioned very close to their mouth. Inhabit sea grass beds and areas of coral rubble from 5-75 feet depths. Rely on excellent camouflage to hide. Mottled patches on body. Note the wide bands radiating from the eye backwards.
