Overgrowing Mat tunicate

Trididemum solidum

This tunicate could easily be mistaken for a green sponge. Their excurrent siphons are very small compared to most other tunicate s. I've only seen this species in areas of clean and strong water movement and deeper than 10 feet. The green, blue-green colored ones are most noticeable, but can be gray or whitish.
