Rainbow Parrotfish

Scarus guacamaia

Current data on populations is not known. There has been a decline in their numbers throughout the Caribbean due to over fishing. These beautifully colored Rainbow Parrotfish can, if left to survive,  reach almost five and a half feet in length and weigh over 200 pounds. To see them east of the Bahamas in now considered "Rare".  Thanks to some of the protected waters around St. John, perhaps these two individuals will be fortunate to grow to their full potential and reproduce.
