Dusky Damselfish

Stegastes adustus

The Dusky Damselfish is all dark brown with a dark narrow edge on the anal fin. The Juveniles are a grey/blue with orange wash over the head and back, with a dark spot outlined lined with white/neon blue and a dark spot at tail base. The Longfin Damselfish is similar, but the dorsal and anal fins extend PAST the tail base, the Dusky's do not. they are 2-4 inches long and like shallow areas with wave action. They are territorial (like all Damselfishes) and will chase away any intruding fish. Rather shy, but if you wait they will always come back.
