Bluestriped Grunt

Haemulon sciurus

You will often see solitary Blue Striped Grunts resting under ledges during the day. They could be confused with the Caesar Grunt which is similar, but not common here. The Blue Strip Grunt has dark dorsal and and tail fins with light margins. The Bluestriped has blue over yellow background, the Caesar has gold stripes over a blue/silver background.  Depths 8-50 feet.
