Brown Garden Eel

Heteroconger longissimus

Brown Garden eels live in sand and sea grass beds. I found them extremely shy and they back into their sand burrows quickly upon approach. They have dark backs an light/pale bellies. They have a bright white/silver cresent under their eyes. (See head shot picture) There were just these two when I notices their bodies waving and swaying continually as they moved to catch plankton.
