Golfball Coral
Favia fragumIt is easy to see how this dome shaped species got it's name. A colony is only about 2 inches in diameter and grows in shallow reefs and rocky shoreline areas. It is also known also "Star Coral" which is actually a general name for other stony corals like the Elliptical Star Coral and the Smooth Star Coral. Yellow/gold in color, the polyp holes, called Corallites, are oval with raised rims.
