Octopus Sponge GALLERY

Ectyoplasia ferox

An thick orange, cinnamon or cinnamon brown sponge that encrusts dead corals, undersides of caves and rock ceilings. There are 3 growth patters, but all display raised excurrent openings that are lighter in color than the body of the sponge. They can be up to 1.5 feet in diameter.
