Scrawled Cowfish Gallery
Acanthostracion quadricornisA member of the Boxfish family. Scrawled Cowfish are rarely in water shallower than about 8 feet. Their ability to change the color of their skin puts them toward the top of the class. Their blue-green to yellow and blue colors with dapples of brown help them hide in just about any environment. They have a forward pointing spine above each eye and two rear pointing spines in front of their anal fin. They have a long tail appendage with the tail fin at the termination. Their long tail gives them a total length of up to 18 inches.
