Touch-Me-Not Sponge

Neofibularia nolitangere  

This sponge comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. They are so called because it is a very toxic species. Do not touch it with the bare skin! They can be thick encrusting like or massive to large vases (up to 30 inches wide and high). Brown-red in color. They are usually in depths of over 10 feet. Named for good reason.
