Scattered Pore Sponges GALLERY
Amphimedon compressaA group whose excurrent holes are "scattered" about the sponge's surface in no particular pattern, unlike the "Row Pore" sponges whose excurrent siphons are literally lined up in a row. These sponges seem to grow in a variety of shapes. My guess is they start as little balls or buds and then grow from there into the rope or tower shape. They can be black, red, brown, cinnamon, orange, tan.
